What Goes Into a Good Modular Kitchen: A Materials Guide

Modular kitchens live or die on the materials behind the finish, not just the finish itself.

The cabinet core should always be BWP-grade plywood or a marine-grade board — kitchens generate more incidental moisture than any other room, and MR-grade material simply won't hold up over years of use.

Shutter finishes are largely a style choice: laminate is cost-effective and durable, acrylic gives a high-gloss modern look but shows fingerprints more, and veneer brings a natural wood look at a higher price point.

Don't skimp on hinges and channels — soft-close hardware from a reliable brand is the difference between a kitchen that still feels solid in five years and one with sagging shutters and loose handles.
