Branded plywood commands a premium for a reason — consistent core quality and bonding you can rely on. But imitation sheets branded to look similar do circulate, especially on large orders.
First, check the edge. Genuine sheets show even, void-free layers all the way through; imitation core often has visible gaps or uneven strip widths.
Second, check the stamp. Authorized dealers receive sheets with a clear, consistently placed brand stamp and grade marking — smudged, inconsistent, or missing stamps are a red flag.
Third, ask for the invoice to name the brand and grade explicitly. A dealer confident in their stock will always put it in writing.
When in doubt, buy from a dealer who can show you an authorized dealership for the brand in question.
